Here's
another photo I took at St. George's Cathedral in Cape Town this week. The occasion was an alternative State of the Nation Address: a protest, staged by the somewhat ambiguously named
Save SA. The speeches were acerbic. People were tired of 'kak', said this man on the left. At a similar protest, several years ago, there was a spirit of solidarity and hope. Things have changed.
OBSERVATION: It is a small cathedral, by European standards. I once paced out the size of the Dom, where my parents were married: 600 paces from end to end. This will be a fraction of that.
