I once wrote on my blog that the key ingredient to the vitality of my ministries was transcendence. My late wife Mirjam called it "opening heaven" for people. It is a different way of thinking altogether -- to "worldly" thinking -- in every area and every way. But Mirjam said that she would add two things. Firstly, there was loving and caring, not only on the part of the minister and his wife, but a few people had a special gift for it, and it was catching. Secondly, there was faithfulness and endurance, again not only on the part of the minister and his wife, but there was no small number of dedicated and undaunted people in the Church.
