Original Pulpit

This is the original pulpit of Cape Town's Holy Trinity Church of England, which was built in 1846 in Harrington Street. The Church moved in 1969, to Vriende Street, since its original home ceased to be a residential area. The denomination is now called the Reformed Evangelical Anglican Church (REACH). This is to be distinguished from the Anglican Church of Southern Africa. OBSERVATION: The two began to drift apart when the Anglican Church of Southern Africa "leaned towards Rome" in the late 1800's. This very pulpit was at the centre of it all. REACH came out of the separation small and weak, but in recent decades has seen a great resurgence countrywide. Its Churches are listed at REACH Churches.
