Critical Thinking vs. Critical Openness

My co-editor, I see, hides his light under a bushel. Earlier this year, he addressed the House of Lords, and didn't even tell me about it. He gave them a masterclass on critical thinking, which is defined as "the objective analysis and evaluation of an issue in order to form a judgement". I trust that Great Britain is now in more capable hands. OBSERVATION: I was taught critical openness by Prof. Rich Erickson. It differs from critical thinking, in that the emphasis is more on the thinker than the thinking. Self-critical more than critical. Someone comments as I write this post: "Critical openness? Here's the definition. It's something they don't have in America." Actually, I was taught it in America.
