I was leading a Bible study on Acts chapter 10. I said that, in my view, the basis of our unity as Christians in the midst of considerable cultural diversity is that we are (quote) “astonished that the Holy Spirit has been poured out on them”, and that “they” have, in various ways, shared with us their faith in Jesus Christ, and testified to how God has been at work in their lives. One of the group, who is usually quite quiet, said with conviction: “That’s the only way! There’s no other way to find unity between cultures and races!” OBSERVATION: It has been my policy to foster unity specifically through a sharing of Christian faith and experience.
