This
is one of only two water-wheels in Cape Town. It is in the Green Point Urban Park, and is used to generate electricity which lights up the park. It was constructed several years ago. Water-wheel no. 1 is at the Josephine Mill in Newlands, and is used to grind flour. Built in the early 1800s, wheel no. 1 stopped turning for 25 years, being re-started in 1988.
