A decommissioned synagogue neighbours my Church in the country. This week I had the first opportunity to look inside. This is a super-wide-ange shot, which includes an enamel Star of David on an iron ceiling. The synagogue was built in 1913, in a Lithuanian
style. It has round-headed lancet windows, and a collonaded portico on the side. Isodore
Mann -- later the village mayor -- had it built from his own private funds. As the ostrich business declined, so Jewish families moved out of the area. The building is neglected today, but still
sturdy. It now houses gymnasts. See the girl jumping!
