African culture knows little privacy -- in all kinds of ways -- which is one of the biggest adaptations I need to make when I enter my "other world". Here I clicked on my laptop camera to illustrate the point. Sometimes, though, it may be four or five children squeezing me -- not merely one peeping over my shoulder. OBSERVATION: The last time I was in my "other world", children ripped a curtain aside -- or gave it their best efforts -- to see the White man bathing the African way. There were no doors in the house, as is common. Now my host put up a double curtain with weights at the bottom, which I suspect she did out of quiet consideration for me.
