One is taught a lot about Church groups in seminary. Usually -- so one is taught -- the minister plans such groups. In my experience, however, one does not create Church groups. They arise spontaneously. My most recent example is a Bible study course I conducted in my country ministry -- attended by more than 80% of the congregation -- and spontaneous, in the sense that I did not conceive it. In my major ministries, which spanned nearly 30 years, most if not all Church groups were spontaneous -- or as I have put it, they were created by God. I think of Bible studies, youth groups, choirs, periodic events, and so on. OBSERVATION: The opposite is also true. Groups collapse spontaneously -- sometimes Church-wide.
