Urban ministry needs to contend with extreme instability. Here is just one example: at a certain point, in my urban ministry, we had two youth leaders and six helpers. Six months later, one of the leaders and four of the helpers were no longer in the line-up. This was just natural turnover. OBSERVATION: There are some who prefer stability, and take the instability as a bad sign. In fact it is stability which tends to be a bad sign in urban ministry. Most of the action may be in the unstable sector, and one needs to learn to work with it.
