There are some things I have given high priority in ministry, above most other things. One of them is meeting other ministers. This has proved to be one of the greatest blessings of ministry -- and, I think, has been part of the secret of my unusually long tenures (my last three appointments have averaged 11.8 years each). Given the priority I have afforded them, I have attended ministers' meetings in spite of being on leave. One talks with various ministers: about youth ministry, doctrinal breadth, errant office-bearers, membership standards, leadership paradigms, personal disappointments, and much more. OBSERVATION: They need to be meetings without pretence, though. This is not true of all ministers' meetings.
