What to say about one's salary, as a minister? I have heard it said many times: a minister should be offered a full salary -- that in itself should not be up for discussion. However, my Churches have done it like this. They have worked out the average minister's salary in the area (we have wards in South Africa). Then I have asked them to make it markedly less. In other words, it should be clear that it is less. OBSERVATION: This is assuming no extraordinary circumstances (perhaps in another post) -- and of course, it won't work if all ministers in the area ask for that. One may note that "salary" is not a word that Congregationalists favour.
