There are many positive stories about the "Golden Age of Missions", yet I often hear of the damage that colonial missionaries did. The debate is wide-ranging. I shall comment on it here from a personal point of view. I am the son of the last Chief Missionary of the Central Pacific, and saw the end of the Golden Age from the inside. My parents suffered great hardship, and were unbelievably sacrificial. Recently the Church invited me to join their (cyber) board room, out of honour for my parents. Some of the perspectives I hear now are far from what I saw.
