Editorial Comments

An unwritten rule of editing -- as affects my own editorial positions -- is that editors and deputy editors comment on published pieces. I have just drafted a comment on Reconnecting Philosophy and Theology, by a well known philosopher -- I just need to give it a little more thought. OBSERVATION: It is a good custom. It means that all (sub) editors need to be familiar with what is published, it helps to clarify and enrich articles, it contributes to a more lively discussion, it connects with the author. The comments section is also a place where perspectives may be introduced which fall outside the scope of what the editors admit in articles -- ideally, of course, closely related to the topic.
