Stronger

People ask me how I am doing. Mid-March, I was hit hard by rheumatic fever. It is a two-step illness. One catches a fairly harmless bug, then the immune system goes rogue. To reverse it, one kills the bug, then has to "switch off" the immune system. The bug was quickly brought under control, but it took a month for my immune system to switch off. I hope! It seems that it switched off last week. Things seem under control now, and I am stronger. OBSERVATION: I was not helped by my doctor, who believed that antibiotics do not cure arthritis, as he put it, and that I should have permanent immunity to rheumatic fever. In some parts of the world, rheumatic fever kills more than 10% of those affected. 4% in South Africa.
