This is an old post from mid-2009, but a good example of how Congregationalists approach significant decisions:
"We held a Church Meeting today -- which is the highest executive of the Church. The most conspicuous 'event' was a proposed change of Sunday morning worship time -- from 10:00 am to 9:30 am. The proposal came from our diaconate, which is answerable and accountable to the Church Meeting. But the Meeting was in (friendly, noisy) revolt. The vote went two-thirds against a the diaconate proposal. OBSERVATION: What if it had been close to 50/50? This was not a critical decision, so we would likely have deferred it until there was greater unity."
