We tend to think that facts and statistics are bullet-proof. In actual fact, there is something called "scoping the system" which often renders them subjective and, with that, seriously mistaken. I had an article published this morning, which applies this thought to the present pandemic (click here): Staring Statistics in the Face. This isn't a discussion about the most believable statistics -- rather about the mistakes we made, which are seen in disparate figures and social crises. OBSERVATION: In fact, we find the problem of "scoping the system" all over. We see it in our environmental crisis. We saw it this month in the buckled roads of Ohio. Now we see it in a looming food crisis.
