Manipulating Plagiarism Checkers

Yesterday a poet sent me a poem -- which had been plagiarised from one of her own. It was clear that this new poem had been plagiarised, through and through -- but with adjustments to words and structure. I ran it through a computerised plagiarism checker. The checker picked up only 5% of the plagiarism. This was astonishing. OBSERVATION: It was cleverly done. Or perhaps not -- I discovered that there are now apps which defeat plagiarism checkers. Just run your work through an app. Not only that, but we have eleven official languages in South Africa, so one wonders how much is simply translated. Some of my articles were converted to Chinese, and it took years to find out.
