There is a utility for Linux and the Berkeley OS (perhaps for other operating systems, too) called
batmon. My computer is about 2½ years old. This shows what happens to one's battery after 2½ years: it has lost almost a third of its capacity.
OBSERVATION: The data here is interesting. It doesn't quite compute. I can think of some reasons -- or the programmers can't do maths.
POSTSCRIPT: In terms of basic electronic formulae, the programmers can't do maths. But the real world often lies beyond basic formulae. In fact, strictly speaking, it always does.
