I am a member of three groups on Facebook, all of which I treasure: a student group, a board room, and now, an island. The student group, which goes by a nom de guerre, is special because it is an honour for me to be admitted -- and to learn what is going on in an area which is (at the moment) in national and international headlines. The board room is special, because I am admitted in honour of my father's past role in the Church in the Pacific. There have been vast changes in the Church there since I joined. The island group is special because I knew the island as a boy, and it is today the centre of environmental, political, and personal struggles which are often in the news. OBSERVATION: The island -- Banaba, or Ocean Island -- was our first landfall in the Pacific, but I was quarantined. When I was let out, what I saw was spectacular. I still have the snapshot in my mind.
