Disturbing Sermon

It is not often that I am disturbed by sermons. This morning I listened to a friend. He preached on the words of Jesus, "Blessed are the meek." This means, he concluded, that we are the anvil upon which hammers are used. Our strength is our complete passivity. My own view is that, while we may sometimes be passive where our own well-being is at issue, the well-being of others may be at issue, too. OBSERVATION: There are some, in turn, who cannot understand my own view. "You do things," they say, "because you are thinking how things affect others?" Supposedly, we are all selfish.
