Proposed National Symposium

The idea of a national symposium is being floated in South Africa. I have been asked, by those behind the idea, whether I would support it. Yes, I would. There has just been an attempt to overthrow the government of South Africa. But that could not have happened without great hardship among the people. It's a good idea to have a serious and wide-ranging discussion -- and the broader the participation the better. It should include both great and small -- as it is done in the Church -- from the president to the pauper who cannot buy food. One must relate all things to all things. Until now, there are too many self-important people in the mix. OBSERVATION: We really can't afford to drift along as always. There is a deep problem.

POSTSCRIPT: It has been said that it was not an attempt to overthrow the government. I saw enough of the plan myself to believe it was intended as a revolution.
