Plurality of Elders

Some years ago, I posted about a "plurality of elders" in the Church. The secular literature calls it "team leadership". This is how I described a "plurality of elders" under my ministry, in practice:

"To put it simply, we assign portfolios to Church officers, both spiritual and practical, which we try to do according to their gifting. So three of our team deal with staff, two with matters touching worship, one with accounting, one with missions, two with spiritual issues, and so on. Some are involved in more areas than one. The work is not equally divided, which has sometimes been a matter of concern, and needs a fresh assessment from time to time. Yet by and large, I am satisfied that our "plurality of elders" carries real responsibility. Half of them, incidentally, have led the worship in Church, or have preached. OBSERVATION: Where do I come in? My role is to draw everything together in a consensual way"
