Publisher's Queries

Yesterday I started working on a first set of queries from the publisher, scattered over 331 pages of my book. The first actionable query was this: a contributor had quoted Descartes. Which book was this from, and which page? Now Descartes doesn't speak the same English in each book, because he is translated from Latin. This makes it more difficult to find a quote -- once one has identified the book to find it in. I obtained five different editions of the book. The first had the right wording, but the publisher had erased all the page numbers. The next four had the page numbers, but they didn't match the contributor's text. I decided to use the closest translation of Descartes. But this now clashed with a source already in the bibliography, meaning that one book would be in my bibliography twice ...
