Recently I read theologian Alan Richardson on demythologisation -- an approach to Scripture which seeks to separate (it is said) myth from philosophical, ethical, and theological teachings. He is not a demythologiser, writes Richardson. The New Testament writers were demythologisers. But we, today, have mythologised them by believing that the Scriptures are to be taken as read. Therefore, by returning to the views of the New Testament writers, we do not demythologise Scripture, but we demythologise modern mythologisation. OBSERVATION: This one is new to me, although perhaps it shouldn't be. Theological high culture if ever there was.
