I was informed, recently (see a previous post), of an investigation into my old city Church. This was conducted by the Independent Regulatory Board for Auditors (the IRBA). On 31 August 2023, then, Jackie Ngcongwane, Professional Manager Legal of the IRBA, wrote to me that the Church's auditor was "not purporting to be a registered auditor". But this opinion contained a second. The Church's treasurer, Greg Nichollas, had presented the auditor as an auditor, when he was not an auditor -- so misleading the Church Meeting (a meeting which is on record).
OBSERVATION: I challenged the IRBA, though. I wrote to them on 1 September 2023 that I considered they had reached an opinion on insufficient evidence. At the same time, there was trouble with the auditor before, under my own ministry. Audits affect "the bedrock of one's financial credibility".
POSTSCRIPT: This one had a twist. The investigation was reopened.
