I had a look at the risk of
earthquake in Cape Town. At the moment, it is
high. Some notable quotes: "Scientists believe that the Milnerton fault is due for another quake soon," and, "No formalised contingency planning currently exists." I am on top of the Milnerton fault as I write -- which generated major quakes in 1620 and 1809. There is also major risk of
liquefaction, which is known to have happened with the 1809 earthquake (perhaps with the 1620 earthquake, too).
