Financial Recovery

I originally posted this on 5 February 2012: "It was terra incognita this financial year. At the beginning of the year, we had just lost the minister's wife, the minister himself was 'knocked for a six', and the economy was down. But our Church has seen an extraordinary financial recovery this year. If we had continued the trend of the first half of the year, we would miss our budget by nearly 20% -- a bit of a disaster. But based on the last time I checked, ten months into the year, I doubt that our income will fall short of annual budget."

POSTSCRIPT: The year after this, which was my last financial year in city ministry, we had the strongest income in my nearly 20-year ministry -- perhaps the strongest ever.
