Last week, I was talking to another minister about turnover in the Church. It came as a shock to me, I said, when I moved from suburban to urban ministry. I found that we needed to speed everything up, as people came and went. Above all, we didn't get to know newcomers gradually, as Churches often do. We made fast, intuitive decisions to bring people into the heart of the Church, to help out, or share a testimony, to receive assistance, and so on. I believe this was critical in shaping a growing and vibrant urban Church.
