I have been close to (familiar with) the building of several Churches -- yet closest to this one (pictured), which was built during my own ten-year ministry in Port Elizabeth. Things change a lot, when one puts up a Church building. In my own experience, attendance multiplies, and the average age of the Church comes down. At the same time, there is a much higher demand for pastoral counselling, and greatly increased demands on the minister. OBSERVATION: What puzzles me is, why does attendance multiply when the building goes up? How does this reflect on people's motives for attending Church? Not that motives need to be correct. Sooner the opposite, for a Church to have a witness.
