Truth Reversal

After it became known, in 2011, that there was some connection between me and a Black woman, a profusion of rumours returned to me that I -- an evangelical minister -- was involved in pre-Christian Black practices. Oftentimes, rumours cannot be proved. They are completely elusive. But in this case, some of these rumours came back to me in writing. I was surprised, therefore, to discover that I was not alone in this experience. Here are allegations which have been circulated, in writing, about the famous Pastor Erlo Stegen:
There were two sangomas in residence at the Kwasizabantu mission, a mother and her daughter. They were in charge of everything. Pastor Erlo Stegen would consult with them on every matter. They even dictate his sermons to him! He treated them with the honor reserved for the makoti, or first wife. When Erlo Stegen returned from a trip abroad, he first visited the sangomas, even when his wife was dying of cancer. ...
And so on. I repeat this with respect towards Pastor Stegen, and it is "out there" anyway, on the Internet. OBSERVATION: It is a curious thing, that rumours against ministers often are not mere twists of the truth, but complete reversals of it. A minister is evangelical, so accuse him of witchcraft.  He is chaste, so accuse him of unspeakable immorality.  He gives away a third of his income, so accuse him of tight-fistedness. He is the perfect democrat, so accuse him of autocracy. And so on.
.
POSTSCRIPT: As this post rises in popularity (or notoriety), here is a question: Is it racism?
