Zulu Men

On a recent visit to Zululand, several Zulu men stopped me, on separate occasions, and asked me warmly to take their photographs. Here is one of them (pictured). I wondered what for. It wasn't for fame. It wasn't for money. It wasn't even for a photograph that they could keep. I don't know what it was for. But Zulu men like being photographed. You may click on the photo to enlarge. OBSERVATION: Traditionally Zululand was owned by the king, for the blessing of the Zulu nation. Today the king is chairman of a trust which administers the land. In the background one sees something typical of this arrangement: houses peppered across the Zulu landscape, like a town that has come loose with bits of it all over.
