When I began postgraduate studies in the USA in 2004, my seminary asked a few referees what my experience could bring to the seminary. One of them wrote: "How to survive disasters in the inner city. I believe he has a lot to share with us here. This could be researched for these sorts of tough situations." OBSERVATION: Not that the seminary had any interest. And it is not that inner city ministry in the USA is genteel. It is not. However, ministers in the USA are, I think, less equipped to deal with the trauma of ministry than ministers are in Africa. That's not an idle comment: I majored in Church leadership through two postgraduate degrees.
