It’s not only the
boys who pose in the townships. It’s the girls, too. I photographed these girls in Kagiso Heights last week, in the Eastern Cape. The girl on the left reveals something of interest. It is the fashion among young people to pull out their upper front teeth. She might have lost the teeth some other way of course, but both ways she’s trendy.
