City (Un) Safety

During my first (assistant) city ministry, the Church still had an evening service. The service was small, and this was rumoured to be in large part because of safety fears. By the time of my second city ministry (in the same Church), the evening services had been cancelled. However, groups still met at the Church. Then, following a choir practice after dark, a choir member was raped against the Church's cast iron fence on the Main Road, outside of the fence. This discouraged us from meetings after dark, although it didn't completely stop us -- and we installed panic buttons inside the Church. OBSERVATION: Subsequently, a gentle, pretty woman (not one of the congregation) was raped inside the same fence, on the Church grounds. She tested negative for HIV, but later had AIDS. She disintegrated before my eyes.
