I took the photo a moment ago at St. George's Cathedral in Cape Town. It was absolutely packed out, for a memorial service in honour of Ahmed Kathrada, a former colleague of Nelson Mandela. However, the service was at the same time a focus of protest against the present government. The congregation received South Africa's sacked Minister of Finance Pravin Gordhan with great cheers, and sang (in Xhosa): "What have we done?" OBSERVATION: The front pews were a Who's Who of South Africa. In particular, I recognised leaders of the Congress of South African Trade Unions and the South African Communist Party. There were a great many ministers of religion present. I never imagined there were so many in town. You may click on the photo to enlarge.
