Notorious

The photo was taken ten years ago. I am sharing a joke with Badith Chabaan, perhaps the most notorious politician of the Western Cape. He nearly brought down the government in Cape Town in 2007. He recently retired from politics, with the words: “It is merely a smokescreen for educated crooks.” Whether this included him or not, he didn't say. OBSERVATION: At his best, Badith was articulate, engaging, disarming. But notoriety did not stalk him for nothing. He himself admitted to many underworld connections.
