To-Do (Or Not) List

It seems impossible to imagine how much is involved in ministry. Most weeks in ministry, I have spent some time early in the week putting together a To-Do List. I have done this from scribbled notes, from memory, from slips of paper people have given me, and so on. It is not unusual for such a list to be 80 items long -- that is about typical -- and that is without correspondence (say, another 60 items). I said to my late wife Mirjam once: “This is a nightmare.” She said: “You’ve never been able to keep up and never will -- but look at the result.” A minister friend says: “The most important thing is to keep doing the most important thing.”
