Something that has greatly impressed me in ministry is that, while many people are lax about churchgoing, others will not be stopped for anything. One member attended Church the day after he was discharged from Intensive Care. Another couldn't get up from the pew after the service, because of heart failure -- while another went blind in Church -- and tragically died not long afterwards. A few needed to be carried out of Church -- they really shouldn't have come. Over the many years, many came in wheelchairs, many needed to be helped up or down the Church steps (one woman used two sticks), and many walked long distances to be there. I even saw a man being brought to Church in a wheelbarrow. For some people, it is a very great commitment.
