Ministry After Us

Here is something I posted on 9 November 2010, two months before the tragic death of my wife, of bone marrow cancer: "Wife M and I were discussing ministry after us, in our Church (though I have no plans to leave). I think one need not assume that it would be a troubled transition. However, it would need to be an extraordinary minister who comes in – simply for the reason that urban ministry is not like other ministry. It would need to be someone who has a firm hand, yet a receptive spirit, and a “rugged” gospel for rugged times. One could get by without one of those characteristics in some Churches, though not, I think, in the urban setting."
