American Doll?

My new(ish) daughter-in-law found this doll in a charity shop today for R100, about $7. It is in good condition, and still with its box. Among other things, it has a floral dress, a petticoat, and leather-like shoes. Can anyone identify this doll? I guessed that it might be a 1950s or 1960s American doll. OBSERVATION: In South Africa, one finds many things in charity shops which are far more valuable than the price tag. My sister made a spectacular find a few years ago -- a watch encrusted with diamonds. They couldn't be diamonds, said the shop, or what would it be doing in a charity shop?

Such dolls are for sale in America in kit form, to be assembled by the skilled crafter. Therefore, it could be very modern or very old - either way, it is a genuine, quality collectible and worth far more than what was paid, and will increase in value. It's a beautiful doll. Congratulations on a clever buy!
