I asked the question recently: how long does it take for a Church to
recover from severe crisis? In the interim, I found a record of recovery
in one of my major ministries, which may be useful for other ministers to "get a feel". Here were some milestones, the figures adjusted for inflation:
After 5 months ..... our bank balance had increased from $240 to $2 110So there were signs of recovery after 5 months, if not earlier. While there was little comfort in these figures, things were changing. After 14 months, we were still in trouble, but a 50% increase in income was a significant shift. At 19 months, a 40% increase in attendance was also very significant. But we were not "home and away" for another few years. In a future post: the reasons for recovery. OBSERVATION: Today, I would take the early signs of recovery more seriously than I did.
7 months ..... for the first time, giving surpassed what we conservatively planned
14 months ..... our total income had increased 50%
15 months ..... minutes recorded an improved atmosphere in the Church
19 months ..... minutes recorded a 40% increase in Church attendance
