Something I have come across again and again in ministry is the person who says: "I want to serve God with my whole life," or words to that effect -- where this comes at a critical juncture in their lives. Such a critical juncture may be a suicide attempt, a major unravelling of life (whether fast or slow), or a serious illness. But in most cases, in my experience, their lifestyle keeps them from carrying out their conviction, or they die. It is not all bad news, however. In a minority of cases, by the grace of God, people have changed or survived, and have indeed gone on to serve God with their whole life. OBSERVATION: The point is, it may be too late if you wait.
