I have an aversion to recruitment -- yet strangely, I have had very little trouble as minister, filling positions in the Church, even when things have looked daunting. My diaconates have helped me -- by instructing me to approach people. But there is also a spiritual reason for my being backward in coming forward. People need to be led by the Spirit, not coaxed by the minister. OBSERVATION: Having said this, people often respond gladly when approached in person (general appeals tend to be a recipe for disappointment).
