My late wife Mirjam once had the ultimate counselling session. P, a young woman, asked to see her for prayer, because she had hit bottom. She was completely out of money, and had moved in with drug users. She didn’t want any money, she said -- she just wanted to place this in God's hands. So Mirjam saw her in the Church vestry. While they were in the vestry, two calls came through for P. She left the vestry with a job in another city, a plane ticket to get there, and the promise of an advance payment to her bank account. She said afterwards: “This has restored my faith in God!” OBSERVATION: The new employer was an African chief. That in itself is a story worth telling.
