What troubles me most about the present pandemic is that people seem like sheep without a shepherd. That is something a minister is called and trained to see, and to minister to. People seem lost as to how to cope with it. Their fear both feeds the spectre of pandemic and the spectre of pandemic feeds their fear. I hate to see people like that, whether singly or as a crowd. The mood is not good, and the thinking is distorted. OBSERVATION: The actual illness apart, and the tragedy of any loss of life, the fear has a lot to do with the spirit of the age. Increasingly, in ministry, issues skirting death have become explosive. Death is radically rejected -- which on the one hand is understandable, because it is abnormal -- on the other hand not, because it has to be factored in.
