Reasonably Responsible

All of last year, I was in the process of selling my property in the country. Now as one goes through this process, one often adjusts the price. We adjusted it for a few reasons -- but twice we adjusted it because of ongoing damage. These "damage" adjustments brought the value down by a massive R350 000. The estate agents were explicit: "The condition of your property is getting worse by the week, and we do not want you to carry more damage." OBSERVATION: The damage was due to criminals. However, certain police officers seem to be reasonably responsible for damage adjustments. For example, one officer failed to obey an order of the court to jail a suspect. Another failed to impound my stolen possessions. Another vanished crucial evidence. (Today I received notice that the investigation is ongoing).
