Algorithms Sizing One Up

It is fairly well known, I think, that one's personal data is run through immensely powerful algorithms (sets of computer instructions) -- which is what places uncanny advertisements on one's device. The algorithms, however, are not always that clever. They have sized me up as someone who would buy luxury cars, private aircraft, exclusive properties, and even this thing on the right. It would be interesting to know what I have been feeding the algorithms (I live quite modestly). OBSERVATION: There is a book about these algorithms, The Master Algorithm. While the book is detailed and wide-ranging, it is said to be shallow -- which is my experience of it, too.
