Invention 29: Raising Islands
It is not as one thought, with the coral islands of the Pacific. Rather than sinking, they are now prone to more and more severe (sometimes frightening) tides. Since the new president of Kiribati vowed not to leave but to fight, there have been various proposals. I intend to produce one, based on raising the level of the coral rock with a modified Roman concrete. Modern concrete is no good. Roman concrete is strengthened by the sea. A single container ship of concrete could raise the most populated islet one metre. Current proposals of raising house stilts, moving sand, building walls (and so on) do not seem viable.
