Salt Marshes

I took this photo between the suburbs of Milnerton and Rugby in Cape Town, and desaturated it to draw out something interesting. On either side of the tracks, one finds the remains of ancient salt marshes. All over Cape Town, one finds their remains. Apparently it was during a Holocene "transgression" a few thousand years BC that the sea invaded large parts of what is now Cape Town.
